That said, you will have difficulty with your particular query because the dates for your mother's father are within the Privacy Statutes for civil records. For Scotland they are: 100 years for births, 75 years for marriages and 50 years for deaths. Individual records that fall within this range are "protected" from general availability/distribution. (These statutes are, again, generally more relaxed than other countries I have researched.) However, if you have the name of Robert's mother OR father, or a know of a sibling born before 1902 or married before 1931, MANY kind listers would be able to help you for FREE!
