My ggg grandparents were James & Elizabeth (McGill) McCulloch. They both came from Ireland. My gg grandmother, Agnes McCulloch, was born in about 1781 in Ireland. On Mar 28, 1815 she married Thomas Nelson/Neilson at Whithorn, Wigtownshire. I'd be delighted to connect with anyone who be related to the above. And we would like to know what happened to our David McCulloch born ca 1798 Wigton who married Elizabeth Anderson born Port of Spittal August 1798 daughter of John Anderson and Janet Morrow. He is said to have died of the plague when moving some neighbours in late 1840s. Here is the family on the 1841 census, Wigtonshire, Scotland and * this is the David we are looking for along with, who were his parents? and siblings? In the 1831 Urquart census, it indicates that they had been living at this same place for six years. Portpatrick * McCulloch David 35 farmer Wig 5,4 North Knockglass McCulloch Elizabeth 35 wife Wig 5,4 North Knockglass McCulloch Janet 13 daughter Wig 5,4 North Knockglass McCulloch Mary 11 daughter Wig 5,4 North Knockglass McCulloch Margaret 9 daughter Wig 5,4 North Knockglass McCulloch James 7 son Wig 5,4 North Knockglass McCulloch David 3 son Wig 5,4 North Knockglass McCulloch Elizabeth 1 daughter Wig 5,4 North Knockglass They had 1 child Robert after this whose birthdate on March 1st, 1901 census in Albemarle Township, Bruce Co. Ontario is listed as being born on October 10th, 1847, Scotland - so possibly David died between 1847 and 1851 as he is not on 1851 census. The son James came to Canada at his marriage in 1855 and all the rest of the family came the following year. It does not seem likely that George is our David's father as there are no George's carried on in the family naming pattern. However, if you can match them, we would be very interested.
