Hello Listers! I am in the process of going through old photos after the sad passing of my father-in-law a few weeks ago. I just came across a photo showing a man and two children - who are my father-in-law and his sister. In order to identify the man I'm hoping someone in the group can offer a suggestion. One thing I learned the hard way is get folks to ID old photos before they pass away. In the photo there is a sign on the wall of the building behind them that says Daisy McLean - Pianiste & teacher. It is a brick building with a wooden porch and must have been taken in about 1928 or so from the age of the children. I know that when my father-in-law was about 5 or 6 his mother, Daisy (McQueen) McLean brought him to Scotland for his health and most likely they stayed with her parents in Newton-Stewart. So the question is if the photo is taken in Scotland or Canada, where they lived. Would there be any directories showing that she may have taught piano while in Scotland? or is the word "Pianiste" used in Scotland - or should I be searching Canadian directories? Any help is appreciated. Regards Barbara McLean Murrita, CA
