Hi, I am a newcomer to this list and hoping to get a little more info to add extra branches to my family tree. I live in Australia and have Scottish and Irish ancestors. Don't we all! My children's Gt.Gt.GParents were JOHN WYLIE and MARY MCGOWAN - he was born in KILWINNING, Ayrshire, 1827 and so far have not been able to trace her roots. They married here in Victoria, Australia in 1959. His father was JOSEPH WYLIE b:1798 and his mother Cecilia .....? According to his son's DC she was born in France and her name was GASTRAITT but I cannot find such a name at all after a long time spent searching. I cannot find a DC for either of these two. JOHN WYLIE, born 24 - 26 Castle Street, Stranraer, abt. 1855. His parents were Joseph Wylie and Jane King both born Kilwinning. John had siblings Cecilia 1857, Hugh 1858, Cecilia Mary 1861 and David 1863. John was informant on his Father's D.C. May 1891, Stranraer, and gave his own address at the time as Essex, Eng. Would welcome any help in tracing movements of this family in their latter years. Peggy Australia
