I can't be much help, but I can tell what I know from the 1841 Scots Census booklets, published by the Dumfries and Galloway Family History Society in Dumfries, Scotland. I don't have all the booklets, but I checked the records for the Parish of Inch, Kirkcolm, Kirkmaiden, Stoneykirk, and Old Luce, and for Glenluce Village. There are no SHARP families listed in 1841 for any of those places. There was one family of BUYERS listed in Stoneykirk, living at Milmain, a farm farmed by Thomas MCMASTER and James and Gilbert MCHARG. They were Francis, age 30, shoemaker from Ireland; Hugh, age 5; Jane, age 30; John, age 4 and Margaret, age 7. There were several families listed in Glen Luce, which is where I found my BUYERS/BYERS/BYRES connection. As you well know the spelling of the surname depended on the person recording it. The first BUYERS family was living at Culroy, farmed by Thomas Murchie. There was Edward, age 5, from Ireland; Henry, age 7, Ireland; John, age 2; Mary, 4 months; Sarah, age 27, Ireland; and William, 28, male servant, Ireland. The second BUYERS family was living at Mains of Park, farmed by James Gibson. They were James, 5; Jean, 45; Jean, 9; Jenat, 3; John, 2; John, 45, joiner; and Robert, 10. The third BYERS family was living at Meadowpark, farmed by Robert BYERS and Anthony STROYAN. They were Robert, 35; and Robert, 70, farmer. That's all the info that I have...there are many other Parish Books for the 1841 Census. They can be purchased at www.dgfhs.org.uk, or you can ask other listers to check them for you.
