Hello jim - I also have McClure in my family searches - my great great grandfather William Kelton married Margaret McClure in 1857, in Kirkmaiden, Wigtonshire. She was the daughter of Thomas McClure and Agnes Dalziel, and she was born in 1836, at Twynholm village, Kirkcudbrightshire. At this stage in my researching I have not gone any further back in the McClure line than Margaret. Do any of these names occur in either of your lines? Similar age and from in parish also. 4 sons known, James, John, William and Samuel abt 1835, Penninghame.. Line 2 John McClure and Sarah McClurg with their son James born in 1778 at Minnigaff Kirkcudbrightshire, Scotland.
