    3. The Normanton area is a very desolate part of far north Queensland- typical of the Australian outback - so it is not hard to imagine that a traveler might die of dehydration. Creeks there are predominantly dry until the wet season when the experience flash floods. I think it was last year or perhaps the year before that flooding was significant. As well as being a goldfield, Croydon was a flourishing community and there is a cemetery there and I am pretty sure they have a museum so you might find someone to do a lookup if you contact them.
