Dear all, I was in Edinburgh briefly and had a look at 18th century Inch parish Kirk Session records. More on that later. At the start of the records book there has been inserted a list of subscribers for getting a new bell for the kirk. This is alas not dated but seems to be mid to late 18th century. Does anybody know when a new bell might have been obtained? (Note - it's definitely NOT the 19th century one.) The heading reads, 'Robert Keith appointed by the Session to Collect or a New Bell to Kirk at Inch.' It gives names of subscribers, and places for most! I have a copy and am transcribing it but this may take a little time as there are four pages and work calls now... In the meantime, if anybody has rellies in Inch around the mid to late 18th century, please send their names and I'll look for them this evening. Jenny
Here is a link to the list. I've done a full transcription and saved as a pdf, so have posted it on my website: - http://wyrdswell.co.uk/ancestors/Additional/Inch%20bell%20subscription%20list.pdf Beware 'creative' spellings... :) Mrs Seabellow Cleiland is my favourite :) Jenny >Dear all, >I was in Edinburgh briefly and had a look at 18th century Inch parish >Kirk Session records.
