Robert, a man named Carnecham and some more men interrupted the Sheriff and some officers sitting in the (Wigtown) Court House engaged in the drafting. The rioters closed the doors and windows of the court house and stopped the drafting. A body of soldiers arrived from Newton Stewart and the draft conducted under the supervision of the Captain of the regiment.
