Dear List, as a co-incidence these two items appeared in our "The Way We Were" in this weeks Wigtown Free Press Issue January 27th 2011:- January 26th 1911 "A Reformatory boy, who absconded from the institution on Saturday night, was found by a cleaner below the seat of a railway carriage at Stranraer Station on Monday morning. He had, no doubt, secreted himself in order to get a free trip to Dumfries." I may be corrected but I believe that boys from Glasgow were sent down to the Reformatory School in Stranraer. January 30 1936 "The Standing Stones of Torhouse were visited by Stranraer Wheelers at the weekend. This run was very pleasant, and the cyclists visited the County Town via Kirkcowan.   The homeward journey was made by way of Newton Stewart.  En routh the Standing Stones were visited and keenly inspected by the members."
