    3. Thank you Margaret. I shall print this off and add to my list of Edgar info. You never know....... Many thanks for your time Victoria Germain ----- Original Message ----- From: Margaret McDowall To: VICTORIA GERMAIN ; SCT-WIGTOWNSHIRE@rootsweb.com Sent: Saturday, January 27, 2007 11:06 PM Subject: Re: [WIG LIST] EDGAR/MCCUTCHEON - death information Hello everyone I've been reading your emails recently in regard to the name Edgar. I'm not related to any Edgar's as far as I know.........However I did find a connection as I am related to the Flynn's of Dirry Farm in Mochrum. William Flynn was born in Old Luce in 1818 to parents Hugh Flynn and Agnes (Ann) Creighton. However on the 1851 census he had become a tea dealer and was living in Bury St. Edmunds with a family of Edgar's:- "1851 - at 68 Risbygate St, Bury St Edmunds in the household of MARGARET EDGAR, a draper and tea dealers wife, with her son JOHN EDGAR aged 14, an assistant at home, along with daughters MARGARET aged 11, SUSANNAH aged 9, ELIZABETH aged 7 and AGNES aged 4 ,all scholars and all born in Bury St Edmunds. No Mr EDGAR at home that day, but MRS EDGAR was born in Scotland, as were her visiting niece ELIZABETH BELL aged 22 and two travelling tea dealers, a WILLIAM GLENCROSS? and your WILLIAM FLYNN unmarried and aged 31. It does not say where in Scotland he was born. Also in the house were ANDREW JAMIESON a general servant aged 20 and born in Scotland, and SARAH CHINEY aged 18 a general servant born in Bury St Edmunds." WILLIAM FLYNN married LYDIA METCALFE on 10th June 1852 at St James's, Bury St Edmunds. On the marriage cert They both gave their age as full age, he a bachelor, she a spinster. He was a draper of Risbygate St in Bury and she gave no occupation , also of Risbygate St. His father was HUGH FLYNN , a farmer and her father was WILLIAM METCALFE, a coal merchant. They were married by licence in the parish church, with witnesses WILLIAM SYKES ? MARY ANN SYKES ? JAMES EDGAR and ....... ........? I couldn't read. Anyway I thought I would post this information as it could be the same Edgar's or at least give someone a lead. Further to the Tea Dealer's I read in one of the recent copies of the Dumfries & Galloway newsletter that there had been a piece written about them but not sure which one and if anyone could tell me which edition I could maybe get a back copy sent out to me. Best regards Margaret. VICTORIA GERMAIN <victoria.germain@blueyonder.co.uk> wrote: Hello I'm returning to family history after a couple of years off, and am a bit rusty in finding information. They were both on the 1841 census but can find no trace after this date. They were both deceased by 1881 marriage of their son and I can find no trace on the 1851 census. 3. Hi Margaret, You have a lot more info on the Flynns than I've seen before. I guess that your link there is Martha McGaw, same as mine. I'll take a good look at that when I get back from vacation. We are heading a little to the south this afternoon for a week, so when I get back ...... I do have a bunch of Edgars too, but they seem to be very firmly enscoced in southern Ayrshire. Hannah Edgar b. 1762 in Straiton was my ggg grandmother, and her grand-daughter married my g grandfather, John McKeand. But I can take the Edgars back further than any other line, most likely to Thomas Edgar b. around 1635, also in Straiton. Crawford.

    1. Re: [WIG LIST] EDGAR/MCCUTCHEON - death information

    3. Hello everyone I've been reading your emails recently in regard to the name Edgar. Can anyone remind me of where I can find information on deaths around 1841-1851. I am looking for William EDGAR (born 1790ish) married to Elizabeth McCUTCHEON, Wigtownshire. They were both on the 1841 census but can find no trace after this date. They were both deceased by 1881 marriage of their son and I can find no trace on the 1851 census. Any help is appreciated on getting me on the right road again!
