Thank you Diana! Catherine and Michael McQuiggan are my gggg grandparents - otherwise known as McGUIGAN. I've been waiting to see them in your BMDs and, finally, here they are. I believe their gravestone is still standing in St Ninian's churchyard in Newton Stewart. One of my cousins took a video recording of our McGuigan and Doherty ancestors gravestones on a visit to Newton Stewart a few years ago. It would be interesting to find out what they both died from, just a day apart. I have a copy of the 2 entries in the register of deaths for 1855 but it doesn't give the cause of death. Once again, thank you so much for all your hard work. Its very much appreciated. Kind regards. Linda Baker (Lincoln, England)

Hello Lynn I think I can answer your question about Balcraig Whitefields as I too had ancestors living there in the 1841 census. There are in fact several Balcraig references: Balcraig, Big Balcraig Balcraig Moor and Balcraig Whitefields as far as I am aware they were farms owed by the Maxwells of the time. I actually had the pleasure of being able to visit both Big Balcraig and Balcraig Moor a couple of years ago. We were warmly welcomed by all and actually managed to speak to a relative whom we did not know about. I need some help with the 1841 census for Whithorn. I am looking at an entry for William and Jannet Mckie. The census indicates that they were born in 1791. There is another Jannet Mckie living with them; she was born in 1826. The couple I am looking for were married in 1800 according to the OPRs. Their daughter was born in 1816. Is it possible that that I am looking at the correct family? Bill
Hi Bruce Thank you so much for all your effort. I guess I'll just have to accept the information on the Marriage Certificate as correct. regards Cheryl _________________________________________________________________ Advertisement: Fresh jobs daily.
