    3. Sorry! I have been looking up 19th century census records all week. I have even written 18?? as dates of birth on documents at work instead on 19??. 3. Shirley, This is fantastic! Mary Queen of Scots was on the throne in 1846, (although she was only a child). Do the numbers of the deeds translate to anything? I would to be able to find out if the Wallaces were tenants at Cairngarroch. 1. [WIG LIST] McCulloch, McMillan, McTear & Millar (or 'er') in Wigtownshire & Ayrshire
    2. Rob Williams
    3. G’day Listers, I only recently joined the list & have been amazed by the volume & quality of information in the list’s archives. My family of main interest is the McCulloch’s. My Great Grandfather was Robert William McCulloch dob Feb 3rd 1863. His 1st marriage was to Sarah McTear on Oct 1st 1886, at Barrachan, Parish of Penninghame. They had the one child Maggie dob Nov 14th 1887. Sarah died on Sept 23rd 1894. Robert was a police constable at this time. He then turns up on the Isle of Man, having left Maggie with his father-in-law Robert McTear, as a representative of the Singer Sewing Machine Company. There he marries my Great Grandmother, Mary Howard Heath, on Oct 2nd 1895. They had 3 children Robert William John dob July 13th 1896, Mary Charlotte dob Sept 1899 & my Grandmother Nathalie Frances dob Feb 14th 1901. While I have a fair amount of detail on the McCulloch – McTear generation to date, I hit the wall at Robert’s Grandfather, John, he was born around 1789 in Ireland according to the 1841/1851 census’. His parent’s names on his death registration were Thomas McCulloch & Jane McClure. John married Margaret McMillan on June 1st 1815 at Kirkcolm. They had 13 children, with Robert’s father John dob June 28th 1828 being the 7th. John(jnr) married Margaret Millar (or ’er’) on Jan 9th 1853 at Ballantrae. They had 7 children of which Robert was the 6th. Is there anyone on list who is researching this particular line? Or any suggestions as to which Irish county would be the best bet to start looking for Thomas, Jane & John in? regards Rob Williams In Sunny NSW _____ I am using the free version of SPAMfighter for private users. There are no Withers listed in the booklet for the old one but there will be many missing from there. The newer kirkyard around the present church lists some Withers. No 9. Janet Wither b. 1872 died 1950, married to Hugh Thomson No 133. Elizabeth Wither b 1771 died 1854 married to Robert Kerr. No 153 John Wither b. 1865 died 1927 son of Charles and Elizabeth Wither. The 1684 Parish List gives John Witter, elder and John Witter younger in "Kurckeume" Hope this is of interest to you. There are also 4 Ross stones and several Ros mentioned in the 1684 Parish Lists. One James Ross buried in Oakwood cemetery Simcoe, Canada. Diana > Hi All, > > > > Can anyone locate a William Wither b 1833 in Kirkcolm ? I can not find him on either the 1841 or 1851 censuses, His parents were I believe, William Wither(spoons) and Jane Ross m. c 1818. William should still have been in Kirkcolm in 1861 and 71 as his son William Armstrong was born there in 1865 and a daughter Mary in 1879. William Armstrong and Mary showed up in the 1901 census in Dumfriesshire. William A was head of household married to Agnes Graham and Mary his sister was living with them and their family.. William A and Agnes Graham were my grandparents. If William died in Kirkcolm where might he be buried? Also his wife Agnes McGuffie. Terri, USA
