I believe Janet may have married William BYERS, Ag. Labourer, around or at least 1840, more than likely before this, I have been unable to find anything to back this up, or deaths of the couple. It also states on Roberts death rego. in Australia 1876 that he was born Stonykirk, Wigtownshire and his parents were William & Janet BYERS nee Sharp. Thanks again Tracy Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Hi Again Possible the name on original message could be Johnston (not sure of the spelling) instead of MacDonald. Sorry ----- Original Message ----- From: SHIRLEY LAIRD<mailto:laird26@sympatico.ca> To: SCT-WIGTOWNSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com<mailto:SCT-WIGTOWNSHIRE-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: July 6, 2007 2:16 PM Subject: [WIG LIST] Bed & Breakfast - mid 1960's Hello Out There Would anyone know about a Bed & Breakfast in the mid 1960's in Wigtown? Supposedly the only one there. We believe the name of the people that ran it was MacDonald and they are related to my family. I think they would have been related to Cannon, Neilson or McCartney families. If someone has any knowledge of the above, any info would be of great appreciation. Thank you in advance. We've had our trip to South Western Scotland and had the best time. We rented a cottage near Kirkcowan and had a rental car and drove out from there. We've tons of pictures and got a few maps of that area. We were able to get to all 3 ancestral farms (Crosherie (both of them), Barnharrow, and Drumabrennan), we met a number of cousins I didn't know I had and of course Kie Stewart and his wife Ann who I've emailed with over a few years now. Sorry I didn't get to meet Mary Forsyth, maybe next time. For those of you living in that part of Scotland - you are living a wonderful area, the most picturesque scenery and friendly people, how lucky you are. Mary Lou Rosendale(nee Stewart) Granisle, B.C. Does anyone have a connection to a Jane Shennan, occupation Baker, who in the 1851 Census North Side High Street Wigtown, was living with 3 children and two stepchildren? Jane may have been the widow of a Peter Shennan Baker 1837 Pigots? I am trying to find if their is a connection between James Shennan Dally (1840-1916) Thanks also to Bruce McDowall who solved my Irish mystery unblocking that line. Regards Maggie
