    3. Thanks for this tip-off. I can see almost all my images (except those from the Angus OPR). However I seem also to have 'lost' two 'previous search' pages from Inch parish, which I had been about to use. They are coming up saying the search found nothing, which wasn't so when I conducted the search in 2006. I've sent a contact form to SP. So - best to check your 'previous search' pages too. 1. [WIG LIST] Inch Kirk bell subscription list
    2. J Blain
    3. Dear all, I was in Edinburgh briefly and had a look at 18th century Inch parish Kirk Session records. More on that later. At the start of the records book there has been inserted a list of subscribers for getting a new bell for the kirk. This is alas not dated but seems to be mid to late 18th century. Does anybody know when a new bell might have been obtained? (Note - it's definitely NOT the 19th century one.) The heading reads, 'Robert Keith appointed by the Session to Collect or a New Bell to Kirk at Inch.' It gives names of subscribers, and places for most! I have a copy and am transcribing it but this may take a little time as there are four pages and work calls now... In the meantime, if anybody has rellies in Inch around the mid to late 18th century, please send their names and I'll look for them this evening. Jenny

    3. Ann, As far as I can determine, the line you are referring to is: Samuel PATERSON-Margaret McGHIE and William CAMPBELL-Jane KILTY. William and Jane (of Kirkmaiden, Wigtownshire) had daughters Letitia and Sarah. Letitia married Samuel RUDDOX (coalminer) in Tarbolton, Ayrshire on 17 Mar 1871. Sarah married Samuel PATERSON (ploughman) on 8 Nov 1872 in Portpatrick, Wigtowhshire. Sarah and Samuel had at least 10 children. Son Samuel you refer to was born in 1882 (registered in Stoneykirk). Search of 1910 Federal Census in Boston, MA, will lead you to Letitia REDDICK (immigration 1893) and Samuel PATTERSON (immigration 1909). I will send you further details off-list. While I haven't found a Mrs. Riddock in Boston (closest is in Andover, Essex County), I did find a Samuel Patterson's naturalization file.  In both his Declaration of Intent and his Petition, he said he was born 15 Sept 1882 in Stoneykirk and arrived on the Furnessia with his last residence in Glasgow. Their son Alexander was b. 1776 in New Luce-don't know who he was m. to. Alexander's son Thomas b. 1811 New Luce was m. to Jane Wield. don't know any of his siblings but he started a business in Dumfries. His son Alexander b. 1844 in Newton-Stewart took over the business but became deaf. In 1887 Alexander immigrated to US with wife & grown children. The connection to Old Luce goes back before 1746.
