In the ancient cemetery of Scibberscross, Strath Brora, there are many stones with a fleur de lys emblem. It has been said to me that this was the insignia of those who had Jacobite sympathy. Apparently men wore a white rose for the same reason. I understood that most of Sutherland had little or nothing to do with the 1745. Can anyone explain this or confirm the use of the fleur de lys?
