In hope of finding my Major MacDonald here in Ontario I have been scouring the graveyard inscriptions..smile.....in areas that I think he may have lived. In my search I have come across these people of Sutherlandshire, there are other Scottish graves there with no inscription as to where they came from .....some are also from Perthshire and Kirkcudbrightshire, Rosshire,Inverness, Arglyshire, Kirkintullock all over...anyway here are the ones that are definitely listed with the Sutherlandshire inscription on their stones, hope it helps someone Free Presbyterian Cemetery, Tuckersmith, Ontario In Life beloved in death lamented. Also William Son of the above died 15 August 1847 aged 2 months 9 days next In Memory of Hugh McKay died Sept 23 1880 aged 86 years. Native of Sutherland Shire Scotland Also his wife Christena McKay who departed this life on the 30th of Sept. A.D. 1885 Aged 77 years, Native of Sutherlandshire, Scotland next In Memory of Daniel Clark died May 30 1918 aged 86 years 5 months A native of Sutherland shire Scotland Catherine G. Clark beloved wife of above died Feb 5 1873 aged 39 years 2 months and 11 days also Catherine Mellen infant daughter of Daniel and Catherine Clark aged 9 days next Janet beloved wife of William Ross died Feb 11 1895 73 years Native of Sutherlandshire, Scotland William Ross died Jan 15 1905 aged 79 Years 10 months (Stone broken on ground) this one is right next and is probably related Roderick Ross died July 8 1901 aged 79 years 8 months (N) In Memory of Margaret Mustard wife of R. Ross died Oct 20 1900 Aged 76 years 3 months Watch therefor yea know not the day (N) or the Hour of when man come in Donald McKay died April 21 1893 aged 62 years 4 months a native of Sutherlandshire Scotland blessed are the dead who die in the lord next In memory of William Finlayson died March 24 1902 aged 63 years A native of Sutherlandshire Scotland also his son John died Nov 10 1879 aged 4 years next In Memory of John Finlayson Sr. died March 15 1876 aged 75 years Native of Sutherlandshire Scotland John xi.25……..the life…..in me….be…..dead yet shall he live (S) In Memory of Isabella Mcleod Wife of above died Jan 29 1898 aged 89 years Native of Sutherlandshire Scotland (N) In Memory of John Finlayson Jr. died March 14 1876 Aged 41 years Native of Sutherlandshire Scotland (W) In Memory of Margaret Caldwell wife of John Finlayson Jr. died May 26 1930 Aged 86 yr 10 mo.
