Well worth consulting R W Munro The Munro Tree, as an example of a more thorough source-based work. NB The Munros of Assynt were associated with Assynt in Easter Ross, not Assynt in Sutherland. I went over the book with a fine toothcomb trying to find my family which orriginates from Assynt and Lairg. However try as I might I couldn't find them. As I recall there is a shortage of dates in the book.
