William MacDonald shows up in 1811 in Newland, Farr, Sutherlandshire with himself and one other male in household (I believe this to be my gr gr gr gr grandfather John MacDonald) 6 females (one probably being his wife!) with a total of 8 to the household..... In 1812 my John MacDonald gets married to Margaret MacDonald on the parish record it states he is from Newland, Farr,Sutherlandshire and she is from Armadale, Farr Sutherlandshire! They name their one and only son William MacDonald so I would say my deduction of William of Newland in 1811 will be John's father..... But for Margaret.....there are two that could be her father.....and since no second son was born ...(or at least found!) I have no clue as to who her father could be.....and since this early census only gives head of household and both McDonalds' in Armadale are male.....well you see my problem..... Has anyone any suggestions on how I will go from here?? to find siblings for John and or Margaret...John obviously had a lot of sisters....and if he had brothers then...they had left the nest by 1811 Has anyone a list of....soldiers by name of McDonald after or about 1815?? One of these two had a brother that became a Major....I have his picture in uniform taken about 1867-1870 and he is quite old.....by then.... If anyone would like to see the picture let me know and I will send it to them, he is holding what is known apparently as a "Wellington Hat" Also....is there any burying grounds for Newland, and Armadale?? Cathy....suggestions most welcomed!!
