    1. [SUT] 1841 and 51 Census of Orkney Island (Sutherland strays)
    2. Cathy Wagner
    3. Hi all Well while doiny my google searching last nite, I accompli to find a complete census of the Orkney Island's in 1841, transcribed of course, source says it is rechecked for errors but anyone should take a look at originals themselves anyway, and of course the 1841 does not state....where they are from , only that they are born out of County, I did however some time ago order in the fische transcriptions of "some" of the 1851 census, the South Ronaldsay and the Burray ones...but did order the full indexing of the entire Islands for 1851..as that is where my MacDonald's did end up.I also ordered for that particular area the 1821 census. At any rate....I am going to transcribe to you the strays's from what I have and make any reference to any earlier census that I have as well if they are on it as well. If anyone wants me to see if anyone in particular is on the 1841 I will gladly take a look for you, but please a common name .....needs something to go with it...like an age, a spouse, a child..something 1851 Census of South Ronaldsay District 6, St. Peter's Laughton, Jessie , Head, Widow age 44, knitter of stockings, born Farr, Sutherland Jessie, daughter, unmarried, age 17 , house servant born Orkney,St. Peters James, son age 16 , pauper b orn Orkney, St. Peters * I do not see them on the 1841 census altho they should be there.??
