    3. Hi Geoff Nice to hear you are home for Easter. May be nothing - may be something - on a prowl through some Nova Scotia gravestones last week on line I actually spotted a McGlashan one. I think it was related to a Grant - could this be anything to do with the cousins who went out there? He first appears on the scene as a local lawyer in the 1770s, acted as factor for one or two estates before getting the big job in about 1790. My name is Geoff Anderson and right now I am at home, about 100km east of Melbourne, Australia. My other home, for the past 20 years, is Southeast Asia and it is there that I earn my bread. I will return to Laos immediately after Easter and won't be back in Australia until December. When I am away I get very busy to the extent that I can do little more than scan the Subject box of sites such as this. With a few weeks in Australia I have had the luxury of actually being able to read what people are writing and I am finding it all really interesting even though it is not connected to my own research. Which brings me to the point - My GGG Grandparents were William ANDERSON and Margaret SQUAIR of Brora. My GG Grandparents were George ANDERSON and Elizabeth FRASER. Elizabeth's father was the factor at the Rhives Estate - Golspie until 1800. My G Grand Father was John Fraser ANDERSON aka John William ANDERSON born 1826 or 1830, depending which set of records you wish to believe. At the time of the 1841 and 1851 cenus's (censii??) he was living in the care of Ann McGLASHAN, a Golspie innkeeper. His parents, George and Elizabeth were highly visible in Golspie until 1839 - by the time of the 1841 census, they had disappeared. John ANDERSON came to Australia (in 1853 according to his daughter). His cousins went to Pictou in 1832 and it appears that his parents and siblings may have followed between 1839 and 1841. Sorry to bore those of you that have already heard this story, but I figure if I keep floating it by, someone may eventually recognise some of the characters, and if so, I look forward to hearing from them. Congratulations to all on a great site. Regards, Geoff Anderson ==== SCT-SUTHERLAND Mailing List ==== You may, at times, wish to check out previous messages to this list.
