    3. I understand Old Rhives was a property in Sutherlandshire, does anyone know where it is/was located. Reference: James Gordon and Jane Mackay applied for Old Rhives 1782, at Old Rhives 1785-1808. then at Springsdale by 1811. Where is Springsdale? Thankyou for any suggestions. t.

    3. I can confirm that James Gordon and Jane Mackay were not at Old Rhives in the census of 1811. Old Rhives was a small township. In 1811 there were 46 people living there. I wonder if Springsdale could possibly be Spinningdale which is in Creich parish? Have puzzled over Springsdale but have not ever heard of that name in Sutherland. Anybody know differently?
