However, one Mr McGill did produce 2 volumes of documents in about 1909 and 1911 titled Old-Ross-shire. They draw on the Balnagown Papers and also Tain documents and include material which has now disappeared. The volumes contain a mine of information on the N Highlands. Apart from some legal material, there is, as far as I'm aware, no Matheson of Ardross archive. It appears that papers were destroyed. The family has, of course, no link with earlier Ardross families.
