    1. ANGUS SUTHERLAND, in Auchraich
    2. Rena Singleton
    3. Good morning, Buried next to my gg-grandparents at the Auld Kirk in Bradford, Ontario, Canada, are ANGUS SUTHERLAND and his mother, ELIZABETH SUTHERLAND. I have no idea on whether there is a connection between our families, so this is a shot in the dark. ANGUS, his mother and a sister, BETSY came to Canada with Selkirk's settlers on the Prince of Wales in 1813. They came from Auchraich. The passenger list gives ELIZABETH's age as 60 (b. 1753). According to her tombstone inscription, she was a native of Sutherlandshire, who died 19 Feb. 1841 at age 90 (b. 1751). BETSY SUTHERLAND died on tuberculosis shortly after the ship landed in Canada. The passenger list gives her age as 18 (b. 1795). The passenger list gives ANGUS' age as 20 (b. 1793). According to the tombstone, ANGUS died 24 Mar 1885, aged 103 years (b. 1782). The Simcoe County Archives has a receipt for a money order that ANGUS and another man named (William???) Sutherland sent to Scotland. The recipient was CATHERINE SUTHERLAND. I did not copy the details, since I did not consider the possibility of a connection (nor the extent that I would succumb to genealogy). Does anyone know this family? With thanks, Rena
