Alexander SUTHERLAND, Capt of 30th Foot: Marriage Certificate of Peter MELLIS, merchant of Aberdeen to Catherine SUTHERLAND there, dau of the deceased Capt. Alexander SUTHERLAND late of the 30th Regt married at 18 Pitt St,Edinburgh on 18 April 1825 in presence of Charles GORDON Esq, John McDONALD Esq, Berriedale, Mrs McLEOD, brides sister. Marriage for Lt. Alexander SUTHERLAND in Forfarshire Regt of Militia residing in 6 Dewar Place, St Cuthberts & Miss Elizabeth SUTHERLAND of 18 Pitt Street, of Parish of St Mary dau of the late Capt. Alexander SUTHERLAND of the 30th Regt of Foot. Requesting Pension allowances: Alexander SUTHERLAND, Ensign, he belonged to 1st Regt Veteran Batt. on full pay. He married 27 Dec 1810, Port of Walmer, nr D….., in Kent, wife deceased. Children: Anna bpt 10 Apr 1816 at Port of St Helen, Isle of Jersey. Amelia bpt 26 Jan 1817,at Parish of Walmer, St Mary’s b.15 Dec 1816, father Ensign of 8th Veteran Batt. Alice b.5 Oct 1818, bpt 3 Jan 1819 as her sister Amelia. Elizabeth b.20 June 1821, bpt 15 July 1812 at Port of Chatham,Kent father Ensign of 1st R.V.B Sophia b.16 Nov.1822, bpt as above 1 Jan 1823. Agnes .b.25 March 1825. c. 26 June 1825 as above. At pension allowance request, all children unmarried, Elizth & Sophia in situations. Remaining residing with their father at his death. Amelia, an invalid, family deserving of Compassionate Fund. Their parents marriage: Parish of Walmer,Kent. Alexander SUTHERLAND op & Sophia MARTIN op by license 27 Dec 1810. Alexander SUTHERLAND, Captain,1st Staff, Garrison Co. married Mary MILES,spinster 20 Jan 1775, Halifax, Nova Scotia, he died Chelsea 4 June 1822 of Asthma & old age. Capt Alexander bur 10 June 1822. Dated: 12 Sept 1822. Mary lived 16 Sloan Terrace,Chelsea. Daughter Maria living with & totally dependant on her support born 26 Aug 1784 at Street Harbour,Nova Scotia. Maria was not baptized because Street Harbour was only occupied by disbanded Officers & Soldiers of the British Army & no resident Clergyman, Magistrate only performed tasks. Her husband and his brother Lt. William SUTHERLAND both on half pay as Commissioners of the Peace, authorized. She had 17 children by her late husband, 6 born in Street Harbour, all bapt by local Magistrate without register being kept. Lt. William SUTHERLAND in Wearmouth,County Durham 6-7yrs ago. Capt Alexander James SUHERLAND of 53 Regt on full pay on active service at death, a child Beatta Wahib, dependant on sum received from Horse Guards Authority. Marriage Register, Scapatrick Parish, County Down. Alexander James SUTHERLAND.Lt. 53 Regt married Elizabeth IYROCK dau of George IYROCK Esq of Banhidge in Church of Seapatrick on 4 May 1854. Parish of Wexford: Beatta Wahab born 15 Jan 1855 at Par Cottage,Wexford, bpt 2 Feb 1855. Andrew SUTHERLAND: Andrew married Frances BUCKNOR of Ravensdale, Louth by Banns 17 June 1792 He an Ensign then Lt.1804-1820, then Capt 1821. Julia born 12 March 1797 at Ravensdale Andrews death Andrew SUTHERLAND 85yrs died 17 Oct 1850 of old age & general debility of many months.[more abt him on film] Angus SUTHERLAND Marriage: Angus SUTHERLAND, Bombadier in Royal Artilliary to Jane LAUREL at Gibraltar on 24 Aug 1776. He retired on full pay dying 30 Nov 1810 at Gibraltar, late Lt of Royal Garrison. Jane residing Gibraltar Feb 1811, left in distressed circumstances an inhabitant of garrison. Extract Reg Burials for this Garrison: Jane bur 23 June 1844 informant her grand nephew John Milne DUFFIED Lt. David SUTHERLAND, retired full pay of Garrison Co, mentions arrears in pay Will:At Dornoch 7 April 1836, residing Dornoch, He died there from effects of rupture 14 May 1855 buried Churchyard Dornoch aged between 60-70yrs. Capt.George SUTHERLAND 79th Regt Foot married Ann IRELAND residing in Stirling,North Britain on 28 July 1800 in Glasgow. He died in Middleburgh,Island of Walcheren with his Regiment in late expedition, keaving a widow & 4 infant children in poor condition. George born 4 March 1801 c 31 March with John SUTHERLAND,sponsor. Wt Frances & Patrick IRELAND. Mentions Stirling births. Also mentions 71st Regt. Son George requesting 10pounds as Officers son 24 April 1819. Anna SUTHERLAND died 30 March 1872 at 18 Peapeld Terrace, Ireland???. widow of late T B M SUTHERLAND 41st Regt aged 82yrs of senile debility, home death. George SUTHERLAND, Quarter Master, Rothsay & Caithness Fencibles died 7 Feb 1840 aged 72yrs & 5mths at West Canisbay he married Margaret SUTHERLAND 29 May 1789, she resides Brabster by Thurso. Futher ‘S’ on next film. Anyone with the above folks, it would pay to get the film & read it yourself, this is just a guideline, cannot guarantee accuracy, just quick notes to check against my families. Barbara
