Hi list, I have been reading the list for a few weeks and think it is time I posted some of my family from this area. Peter Murray b. Kildonan m. Mary Rose in abt.1792, daughter of William Rose and Marjorie Henderson, Mary was b. 1763 in Watten, Caithness. Son: Anderson Murray b. 1802 , Kildonan M. Esther Gunn, daughter of Donald Gunn and Esther Sutherland, their daughter Roberta Murray marr. John Murray son of William & ?. Their oldest son John Murray was my great grandfather, he married Christina Smith from Lerwick,Shetland Isles. John and Christina remained in the islands for the rest of their lives, they had four children. My question is this, John Murray who married Roberta is listed as a Chelsea Pensioner and as far as I can tell is dead by 1856, I have been unable to find his death, who his mother was and anything about his time in the service, so he is my brick wall. Any information at all would be welcome, and I would be glad to share what I have on the rest of this family, (which is quite a bit) with anyone looking for the same 'roots'. Catherine. p.s.
