JAMES MACKAY (b. 1867 Inverness, raised in Sutherland and Caithness) came to NSW about 1895 and joined the police force here. His police records state that he had been with the Straits Settlement Police (Singapore?) for 5 years previously. Would anyone know if records were kept at all, of those who went to join the Straits Settlement Police at this time ? Any help much appreciated.
