I am researching the Munro family in Durness/Thurso and Ullapool. I have: Donald Munro (sailor) born Durness 1805 married Jean McKay 1828 in Durness. Jean was daughter of Hugh McKay (shepherd). Donald appears to have been the son of Alexander Munro (tailor) and Katharine Morrison but that has not been verified. The name Alexander is not present in any of his children. Children of Donald Munro Hugh Munro Peggy Munro James Munro Donald James Munro Izzy Johnson Munro Murdoch Munro James Munro born circa 1835 married Hughina Campbell - they were married in Durness in 1861 Jan but were living in Thurso by the 1861 census with Donald's wife who was "Former Wife of a sailor" Jean/Jane McKay Munro was living at 36 Shore Street Ullapool in the 1851 census and was "a sailors wife" Their daughter Peggy was married to Malcolm McLeod and lived in Ullapool in the 1851 census. Neither Donald Munro or James Munro were mentioned in neither census and have not yet been found for that year. James Munro was a master tailor and had a drapers shop in Thurso during the 1870's which I believe was called MUNRO & McKay his daughter Jane McKay Munro married Adam McKay Tailor and later lived in Talmine area. I have been unable to find out anymore about Donald Munro after his sons wedding in 1861 when he was alive I have been unable to find James Munro after his daughters wedding in Feb 1895 Can anyone help me find further details? I have quite a long listing of the Durness marriages and christenings between 1755 and 1840 (some pages missing) if anyone needs any info - please contact me.
