Also, the care of old photos is important. Acid free paper to protect them, clean hands when handling them, and sometimes identification by numbering with a master sheet. I've discovered many things in old photos by using magnification. Saw one gentleman wearing a Free Mason's pin. Saw the detail on a family heirloom broach. One photo had children wearing black ribbons...turns out it was after a funeral. I even read the backwards lettering on the inside of a store window to find out where the photo was taken.
