JOHN GUNN married ISABELLA GORDON [8/5/1824-14/1/1900] [11/8/1825-13/4/1917] Isabella (Bell) was born in Rogart, daughter of Donald Gordon and Janet Mackay – see Gordon Families GN167. She and John married on 6 or 7 May 1847. Banns were called in both Rogart and Clyne (SCR). John was born in Clyne, son of William Gunn and Anne Melville (IGI). The 1881 census shows John Gunn, a crofter in East Clyne, with his wife, Isabella, sons George and Hugh, who were both domestic builders, daughters Annabella, a dressmaker and Sarah who attended school. James Grant, who later the same year married Annabella, was living with the family as a visitor. He was a Mercantile Clerk. John and Isabella had a number of children including: Hugh, born 24 June 1853 [died 9 May 1934 East Clyne, hotel keeper]. Many thanks Christine --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
