This may be of interest / In 2002 I employed a researcher to go to the National Library of Scotland re. my elusive James MacBeath who according to the O.P.R. record of his wedding was " a soldier in the 2nd. S.F.R." which I believe was the 2nd Sutherland Fencibles 1792?-1798. Looking through paperwork tonight I thought the reply might be of interest. DEP 313/3273 contains the Returns Of The Sutherland Fencibles 1 List Of Officers Glasgow 1st. of July 1794 2 Account of subsistence paid to men of the sutherland Fencible Regiment to the 2nd of May from several dates of their attestation at 3shillings per man per day -made at Dunrobin castle 27th. of April 1793 -parishes Golspy (as spelt) Clyne,Rogart ,Dornoch,Lairg,Farr,Kildonan The only MacBeath was from Lirribull -William MacBeath,parish of Kildonan 3 Copy of Return of 20 recruits and 2 Fifers -1795 4 and 5 Monthly Returns in 1794 and 1795 made at Glasgow Barracks NO Names no sign of my elusive ancestor Iain Membership Secretary POSH Preserving Our Sutherland Heritage A Resident of Keighley West Yorkshire www.sutherlandheritage.com member's interests in Sutherland http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~suthlist/index.html
