G'day all, It is interesting that those of us who live in the tropics can gauge the weather conditions in either hemisphere based on how much activity is going on the list and from where it comes! Here it is either hot and dusty, or hot and muddy. Glad to hear there are many new people on the list and at the risk of being repetitive, I'll just run my interests past again. I am looking for an ANDERSON family from Brora and Golspie. Parents were George ANDERSON (born C. 1798) and Elizabeth Sutherland (nee) FRASER (born 1793). George was the son of William ANDERSON and Margaret (nee) SQUAIR of Brora. Their children were John William ANDERSON (born 1826 in Clyne); George Sackville ANDERSON (born 1827 in Clyne); William ANDERSON (born 1834 in Golspie); Margaret Squair ANDERSON (born 1836 in Golspie); and Colin Granville ANDERSON (born 1839 in Golspie). The family was highly visible in Golspie records during the 1830's but had disappeared by the time of the 1841 census. George's older brother, James William (aka Willoughby) ANDERSON went to Pictou NS in 1832, and I think some of Elizabeth's brothers did likewise, so there is a strong possibility that the family went to Canada, however, my GGF, John ANDERSON stayed on in Golspie in the care of Ann McGLASHAN, the keeper of one of the inns. He went to Australia in 1853. I would be most interested in hearing from anyone who could shed light on these people. G'day to you too Jeff There are many days when I wish I was in the tropics. If you have gauged the traffic on the site here correctly it should be real busy this week from the UK! Our weather forecast reads like the middle of winter with heavy rain and gale force winds! You making that trip to Sutherland yet?
