Hello everyone, I wonder if someone can explain this strange IGI entry, as I suspect it could be 'my Mudoch Matheson' birth registration? Murdoch MATHESON Sex: M Event(s): Birth: Abt. 1796 Of Clashmore, Stoer, Sutherland, Scotland Marriage(s): Spouse: Mary MATHESON Does this mean that Mary (the spouse) registered the birth? Hi Kate What you have found on the IGI is one of the dreaded "abouts". These are entries put into the IGI by a relative in recent years. They have no other source and cannot be proved. They are best ignored. I am not absolutely clear on the reasons why these are entered but it does have something to do with the Church of the Latter Day Saints insisting that members do their family tree and then the baptise them all. Someone else may be able to explain that better. I personally always ignore "abouts"!
