Hi Christine & listers, Tom , whose wife is a MELVILLE e-mailed me recently and suggested I was following the wrong couple whom I had supposed were the parents of my GGgrandfather, John. He's going to check with the local registrar who is absent because of illness but is pretty sure that John MELVILLE's parents were Donald MELVILLE b. abt. 1770 and Catherine CLUNES who were married abt. 1798. This would mean that Hector whom I've seen many times on sources is the GGGGGrandfather b. bef. 1750 and married to Ann SUTHERLAND . He also has more details about the MELVILLEs which he'll pass on. What a generous offer from someone who just popped in to my E-mail box & is a busy working man, too. The kind souls who help out are just amazing.
