Cleaning up some Clan Mackay family history files and thought I would put this on the list for anyone out there who might be looking for links or limbs of their tree. Per ALR Mackay Burwood Victoria (Aust) - Murdoch Mackay b 1789? married in Aberdeen to Elizabeth McLeod wo both came to Sydney 1827. Issue: Angus born Aberdeen 1824;, George Sackville b. Aberdeen 1826; Elizabeth born Sydney 1829 and Augustus born Parramatta 1831. Per Janet Maher Bendigo - who has a Findlay Mackay in her tree who was born about 1857, parents James and Jane Mackay (nee Pauton - I think, writing difficult to read). Janet not sure where they hailed from originally. From general research - noted that a David McKay (aged 29) arrived Aust. per "Thetis" on 15 Feb 1849 wife Agnes and children William, Susan and Mary. I hope these help someone. I shall continue to post "strays" or queries from from files occasionally with the aim of supporting those on the list. I am intrigued by the Murdoch Mackay who married in Aberdeen and then named a son George Sackville Mackay. This is most certainly a reference to the county of Sutherland. A few Murray families around Golspie named their sons George Sackville after George Sackville Sutherland. I will have a look for any reference to this Murdoch.
