    3. I to-day received a newsletter from the above society, of which I am a member, and it occurred to me that its "Transactions" might be a source of interest for some members of the list. The society was formed c.1871, I think, and the "Transactions" are papers or essays delivered by knowledgeable people on a wide variety of subjects, with a Scottish and mostly Highland flavour. The Transactions have been published in bound volumes since its inception. I do not think that past volumes could be bought from the society but they should be in large libraries, including University libraries, particularly any that have a Department of Scottish Studies. All of the titles of the Transactions are listed at their web-site www.gsi.org.uk I know this will not be accessible by many members but if you can access them, it is well worth the trouble.
