    2. ***************************************************************************** This email and any files transmitted with it are intended solely for the use of the individual or entity to whom they are addressed. ***************************************************************************** Some details from two High Court cases of 1784 heard at the Circuit Court in Inverness (spellings as per originals): Malcolm Dundee, Scotland Case of John Gray Tenant in Evashy parish of Dornoch accused of theft on 16 Feb 1784 went to "sheep Cott of John Ross alias Siddera in Davochbeg" parish of Rogart and stole "a black Ewe or Sheep" and slaughtered it for own use. List of witnesses: Hugh McKay son of Lieut John Mckay of Milness [sic] Christian Ross wife of Alexander Sutherland tenant in Davochbeg John Ross alias Siddra Tenant in Davochbeg John Ross Tenant in Esfrak Hugh McIntosh in Dalnamain Mr Hugh McCulloch sheriff substitute William Taylor sheriff clerk Hugh McLeod jail keeper in Dornoch verdict Guilty but recommended to mercy Case of Niel Mckay and Jean Sutherland Niel Mckay formerly residing at Braegrudie in parish of Rogart and wife Jean Sutherland, accused of theft. In October 1783 they "then residing in a house in the farm of Braegrudie ... possessed by Alexander Mckenzie alias McConachie" stole from the "Hill of Grudie part of the said Farm, a brown Cow white faced and white bellied" belonging to Mackenzie. summonses executed 16 April 1784 by Hugh Leslie messenger and witnessed by John Shaw merchant in Dornoch and John MacKay his ShopKeeper there" both sign List of Witnesses Alexander Mackenzie alias McConachie in Braegrudie Alexander Grant sheriff officer in Rogart John Sutherland tenant in Braegrudie John Murray tenant in Braegrudie Donald Mckenzie son to Alexr Mckenzie Tenant in Grudie "Since Dead" James Davidson son to Alexr Davidson Tenant in Braegrudie Hugh Leslie writer in Dornoch Found Guilty 3 May
