Hello all, Just to inform all that Colin Campbell Sutherland, my uncle died this morning. He was the gg grandson of John Sutherland and Janet Campbell who emigrated in 1831 from Dornoch to Earltown, Nova Scotia. Colin was a fourth generation woodworker. He served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders in World War Two as a piper. Some of his training was at Edinburgh Castle. In Northern Nova Scotia, Colin was well known for his excellent fiddling with the telltale Scottish flavour. Much of our family history survived thanks to his memory. He had many accomplishments, but perhaps his greatest was the saving of several North Novas lives during the closing days of the war. Colin was modest about this heroic event and the story only came to light during the last year. He always told the family he would live to be eighty eight. And he did just that. I feel sure I speak for us all when I say how sorry we are that this wonderful old man has now passed on. You are very lucky to have had someone like him in the family.
