    3. An Ode to Old Uncle George. With heartfelt thanks to Christine. Without Christine's help my long lost relatives would still be --- long lost. I was searching for old uncle George I knew not where he'd gone Some said he moved to Glasgow With a girl from Cambuslang. I searched the Glasgow records Until my head was birling And finally discovered He had wed the girl in Stirling. I found he had some daughters And his daughter Jean got wed She was betrothed in Cambuslang But her father now was dead. So now to the death register It's going to take me ages I gaily type in George Mackay And up came forty pages. (it felt like that anyway) Try this one here, and that one there, It's taking all my time And always with the same result The George just wasn't mine. By now I'm tearing out my hair I'm almost in hysteria When Christine finds this info.--- He had died out in Nigeria. Many thanks Christine, Isabella.

    3. Well Isabella, I had no idea you were so gifted. I love the ode to George Mackay - made me laugh for ages. If I was a poet I would respond similarily but I just came back in from being at a wedding and brain is not in gear!! 3. Hi Iain, I have just come back from holiday and discovered your e-mail about your clan. As I may have mentioned before I'm not sure if we are linked but in your last message I would like to know more about your NEIL MCBEATH, father of JAMES. I have a NEIL MCBEATH, born 1817 in Dingwall, Ross & Cromarty son of THOMAS MCBEATH & JANET MATHESON of Kildonan I have been unable to trace a marriage or death so far for Neil, he certainly does not appear with his parents in the 1841 census. Hope you can help Carole McBeath Iain wrote: My Great Grandfather was James McBeath born in 1845 the son of Neil McBeath. In 1871 James married Christina Sutherland the daughter of William Sutherland and Christina Sutherland m.s.Murray At Knockarthur on 08/09/1871. Christina died in 1874 and in 1879 on31/7 he married Margaret Sutherland the daughter of Alexander Sutherland and Christina Sutherland m.s. Grant. They had 2 children Neil 1881 and Margaret 1882. Margaret the wife died in 1916 and her death cert. at Inchomney Rogart and her Death cert. names parents William Sutherland and Christina m.s. Murray (the same as Christina wife no1) Our family seem to think that they were sisters? but the 3 certs. show different James details seem to tie in on each occasion. The 1881 census shows James at Achnaggarin with Margaret and son Neil and margarets aunts Janet and Christina Grant . Meanwhile at Loth ther was another James McBeath married to Catherine Reid my Maternal Grannies Auntie Help Iain
