Hello Christine and Malcolm The Emigration Lists are wonderful. The Residenter list may have solved an ancient mystery. Many thanks! Question (of course!) for everyone on the list: What is the significance this phrase? "To succeed the Headleys" These words appear in brackets under the heading "For Quebec and Pictou" on the public notice for the Sylvanus at http://www.highlandhearts.com/emigration.html Any chance "the Headleys" refers to a seasonal weather condition in the North Sea or the Atlantic? Possibly "the Headleys" were the previous owners of the brig Sylvanus?
