    3. Unfortunately, Dr. Hew Morrison's transcription of the Durness OPR ends in 1814. Therefore, only the first marriage that you have listed is included. His transcription reads as follows: [George Mackay, Macdhohil, servt., Borley ....Margaret Morrison*, alias Nin Eachin, Clashneach. *Mackay is written over Morrison 31 Dec] (in year 1814) "Macdhonil" means son of Donald and "Nin Eachin" means daughter of Hector. 3. Hello Ian, Thanks for that - it's funny how the handwriting looks much easier when you know what the word is supposed to be! and I don't know how I saw an extra 'h' in Macdhonil.... it WAS pretty late last night! My page also includes the entry prior to that one, but the background is extremely dark, so I didn't even try to do it! Dec 24 1814, At the Durness Manse Angus ****** McKENZIE? farm servant Knock** & Effy? McPHERSON Durness. Actually looks better in daylight! Just checked the IGI (never thought till now to do a batch number search - much easier) and it is the marriage of Angus MACKAY to Effy McPHERSON; the Mckenzie may be the priest. Hope all this helps someone out. I was pleased that my Ewan McMILLAN's entry was very legible. And there is now no doubt that he is the same Ewan that you fished out for me before from 1811 - father of illigitimate Mary; foxhunter to Mr Dunlop. And also the Eivar McMILLAN, foxhunter, on the Durness Militia List of 1810. And I now have proof that Ewan and Evander are interchangeable names - at least in this family.
