Hi all, I'm still on the hunt for my elusive parents of Donald Sutherland. Donald (b. 1779 d. 1878 Clyne, Milton, Sutherland) was the father of Jane (Jean) Sutherland (b. circa 1817 Hudson Bay, Canada) and WIlliam Sutherland (I have no birth date but believe he was also born in Hudson Bay and moved to Scotland with his sister when his father returned). I don't have any extracts for Donald but he does appear in Census records and 15 Donald Sutherlands were born in Scotland in the year 1779 - don't you just love popular names!! Both Donald and Jane (Jean) appear on Christine's Highland Hearts CD (G293) and she is definitely Donald's daughter not Alexander's. Also, Christine, for your info... If your Ref G337 (and G301) is Jemima (Jamima) Grant daughter of Jane above and James Grant then I have her birth date as 16 June 1842, she emigrated to New Zealand but I can't find details of the ship she was on. I have her death recorded as occurring in 1917 in New Zealand. I have been told there is a woman in New Zealand who is a descendant of hers and who has started researching, but as yet I have not been able to get contact details.
