The information about the Popes comes from the two published volumes of Sutherland Papers covering the period c1800 to 1816, edited by the late Robin Adam and published by the Scottish History Society). These volumes draw on the Sutherland Papers in the National Library of Scotland and also on documents in the Staffordshire Record Office in England. The chance of finding something about one of Sellar's shepherds in the Sutherland Papers is very very slim, particularly for the period you are interested in. If there are Culmaily papers I would like to know about them. Why? Because my 3rd great grandfather, Stephen Clark, herded sheep for Mr. Sellar from about 1820 to 1832. I would be most pleased to find anything about Stephen during his Culmaily/Golspie period, before he went to Quebec. Thanks, Bob Eckerman On Sat, 24 Mar 2001 16:18:10 -0500 "J.
