Hi Liz Wondered if these little pieces of information might just give a clue: ROBERT GRANT of ROGART Robert Grant or Miller is the father of: ELIZABETH, born 30 May 1770 or 1776 Rogart (IGI). ROBERT GRANT of ABERCROSS, ROGART [born between 1685-1729] Robert is shown on the 1745 Sutherland Fencible list What the above does prove is that there was a Robert Grant in Rogart at the time you are seeking him! GEORGE URQUHART b. 23 October 1815 unmarried in 1841 census Since John and Betsy named 1st daughter and 2nd son after Betsy's parents it seems reasonable to assume that John's parents were ROBERT GRANT and ELSPET. QUESTION: Do any other GRANT families of that era have both these names in their list of offspring. JOHN GRANT was said to be of Clashnagrave but presumably his sons would have settled somewhere in the ROGART area where they were born. Does anyone know if any of the others married?
