    3. Hi everyone, I was born in Edinburgh and lived there until 1954 when I emigrated to Canada. I now live near Toronto. My MORRISON ancestors lived in Lerin, Durness and I have traced my roots as far back as the OPR goes. However, I still listen-in, hoping that some relative will post an interest and help complete some branches of our tree. I have a copy of a transcript of the Durness Parish Register from 1764 to 1814. This has more detail than the IGI, i.e occupations and in many cases aliases (gaelic patronymics , e.g. MacUilleamMacUisdeanMhicEachainRuaidh, i.e son of William son of Hugh son of Hector-the-red.) This allows you to confirm the line of descent, which is useful in Durness at least because there are for example many many Hugh Morrisons. If anyone would like the Durness P R checked during this period, I would be glad to do so. As many of these are recent I thought it would be a good idea to reintroduce ourselves to each other. This list is already becoming known as a fun, succesful and very helpful place to be. Couple of points to make life fair for everyone – when replying to the list (unless it is a private answer) please remember to use your REPLY TO ALL key and not simply reply. This allows everyone to see your answer and keeps conversation flowing. A number of people have commented to me that they never see the answers! We have had a large number of succesful matches on this list – nice for folks to know. For the newcomers, welcome. I look after this list – not brilliantly but do my best. I am a Scot born and bred in Edinburgh and live in England. My father was the first of his family to be born away from the family home in Rogart. My Murray family came from Rhemusaig which is geographically in Rogart but comes under Dornoch parish. My Mackenzies are from Achillie and Torbreck, Rogart; my Mackays from Torbreck, Kinnauld and Achillie, Rogart. I am interested in all families in the Rogart, Dornoch and Golspie areas. I have lots of info on Murrays, Mackays, Mackenzies, Grants, Gordons, Duffs and numerous other names and am happy to do look ups for you.
