Hi Lynn What wonderful information you gave us all. The list of names includes two brothers from my own family: Alexander Mackay, farmer, and his brother Donald, blacksmith. These are the sons of David Mackay, blacksmith of Torbreck, Rogart, and his wife Christian Anderson, my great, great, great grandparents. If anyone else is researching this family I have loads of information. Alexander was born at Torbreck in 1799. He married firstly Catherine Campbell in Rogart and their first child, Marrion was born in 1828 in Rogart. Unfortunately she died as a baby. Catherine died in Zorra in 1857 and Alexander then married Catherine Mackay, daughter of William Mackay and Charlotte Mackenzie. Alexander died in Zorra in 1877 and the second Catherine died there in 1903. Alexander's obituary tells that he was of West Zorra and was a pioneer of this section of country having lived in West Zorra since 1829. He was a native of Sutherlandshire and was held in high respect by all that were acquainted with him. He is buried with his wives in the Old Log Church Cemetery, West Zorra. In 1903 Catherine Mackay, second wife of Alexander, passed away. Her obituary tells that ten sons and daughters survived her. As you can see I know quite a bit about Alexander but virtually nothing about Donald apart from he is supposed to have married and stayed in Zorra for his lifetime. Any information on him would be great. Best wishes Christine chris@northants26.freeserve.co.uk Highland Hearts http://www.highlandhearts.com/ --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free.
