It gets worse - in the Tombstone Inscriptions for Sutherland there is in that book at Lairg a Chris Daniel - I wrote it down Christopher Daniel thinking this child was male - with a middle name like Daniel I suppose it was logical - a descendant of the family later pointed out to me that this was a Christina Daniel Murray! Oh dear, can't get it right every time! On a present day scenario my name is Christine but I am quite happy with Chris - however, over the years I have received so many letter addressed to Mr Chris that I now use Christine whenever I write my name!
