With all the names, places and dates being added to this list of late I thought I'd put mine on to see if any connections come along. My Grandmother was Catherine Sinclair McKENZIE born 1896, Glenmore Lodge, near Aviemore. Her parents were Hector McKENZIE born 1853, Farr and Johan MUNRO born 1856, Tongue married 3 May 1878, Tongue. Hector's parents were John McKENZIE and Isabella McLEOD. Hector was a gamekeeper who appears to have been moved to Aviemore by his employer The Duke Of Zetland, possibly as a promotion, possibly as part of the policy of using outsiders as gamekeepers. Johan's parents were Robert MUNRO and Janet McKAY married 28 Mar 1845, Tongue. Robert was a ferryman at Tongue in 1856 and was still a ferryman there in 1881. I think Robert's parent were Donald MUNRO and Catherine MCKAY married 10 Jan 1812, Durness, but I am still waiting to confirm that from more than one source. I only found out about my Sutherland connections a couple of years ago and had only just started following them through when I had to take most of last year out of family history research because of a family illness and bereavement so the listing above is just about as much as I know.
