    3. Dear Sheila, I'm very happy to find someone searching this family too. My husband Alex is the descendant and I am the family history searcher. I have limited information but what I did find in the L.D.S records is the following: 1. I was not sure that the 'Nelly' Sutherland who married Alexander Matheson was also called 'Helen'. If so--this is great for now I have their marriage date! 2. The Alexander born to them on 3rd Sept 1819 must have died young because they had another son named Alexander--born 0n May 25th 1831 who is the g.grandfather of my husband. This Alexander married Elizabeth 'Betsy' McKay Oct 29th, 1872 and they had 2 daughters and a son-Alexander David James. Alexander D.J. married Elizabeth Fraser McBeath on April 25th, 1902. They had 8 children--the 3rd who is Isabella McKay Matheson--mother of my husband Alex. Back to Alexander and Helen Matheson-- I have their children listed as-- 1. Alexander (Sept 3, 1819) died 2..John (March 1823) m.Margaret McKay 3. Marion (abt 1829) m Thomas McBeath 4. Alexander (May 25, 1831) m Elizabeth McKay 5. James (abt 1832) 6. Helen (June 30, 1833) m Angus Fraser Murray 7. Mary (abt 1837) m Colin Grant 8. David (Feb 28, 1838) not married 9. Katherine (abt 1840) m. Donald Ross 10.Jessie (abt 1843) not married 11. George (abt 1846) m Isabella Murray I would very much appreciate help in sorting all these people out. Thanks Evelyn ----- Original Message ----- From: <SheilaMMackay@aol.com> To: <SCT-SUTHERLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Monday, February 19, 2001 2:55 PM Subject: Re: Research Canada > Hi Evelyn, > > I have a lot of information on the family of Alexander Matheson and Helen > Sutherland. 3. Hi Evelyn, I am very interested in your line of research having just stumbled across a copy of your book, "McBeath Memories." which I currently have on loan from the owner, Margaret H Murray, in Glasgow. It is the Matheson, Clashnagrave connection that particularly interests myself and Margaret. The focus of our interest is the MURRAY family of Inchure, Rogart. Alexander Murray (1773-13/9/1862) married a Helen MATHESON (21/12/1808-27/3/1858) from Clashnagrave, daughter of Alexander Matheson and Janet Sutherland. They married on 25th Dec.1830. Do you know if there is any connection with your Alexander Matheson of Clashnagrave who married Helen (Nelly) Sutherland in 1818? Am I right in thinking that 'Clashnagrave' is one particular house, rather than the name of a township? ----- Original Message ----- From: Evelyn Palmer <evpalmer@home.com> To: <SCT-SUTHERLAND-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Friday, March 02, 2001 4:06 AM Subject: Re: Research Canada > Dear Sheila, > I'm very happy to find someone searching this family too. 3. Hello Evelyn I have a great deal of information on your family also including a grave stone photograph. No doubt a lot of this may duplicate what Sheila has given you but you may find it useful and I know everyone loves a photograph. Long email on the way.
