ok figured i would join the roll call so here it goes my gt grandmother wa Mary Kelman Stewart born in 1888 at Nicholas Aberdeen Scotland daughter of John Stewart and Elizabeth Kelman so far i havent found any siblings for mary and i have been able to trace Johns death. John Stewart was born at Nedd Sutherland 1856 son of Alexander Stewart and Margaret Kerr....(siblings Donald, William, John,John, Margaret) I was unable to find any details of Alexanders birth but his death was in 1885 he was 72...son of Donald STewart and Janet Morrison he died at Nedd assynt Donald Stuart/Stewart born around 1787 the only info i have is from the 1841 for donald and it says he was born in this country...not much help grrrr he married Jannet Morrison in 1810 with that contract that i previously posted my brick wall is findin where donald was born and his parents...i have heard that all the Stewarts from Nedd were descended from one who came up from appin ...in the late 1770's ....but i have not yet been able to prove this ...any ideas of what i should do next ??? thankin u Michele

Hello Michelle You did not mention having seen the 1881 census so looked it up for you. I found your family in Assynt in 1881: Alexander Stewart, crofter, aged 60, born Assynt Wife Margaret, aged 52, born Assynt Son Donald, fisherman, age 30, born Assynt Son John, fisherman, age 25, born Assynt William, son, scholar, aged 16, born Assynt Son, Norman, scholar, aged 11, born Assynt I also had a look in the Graveyard Inscriptions at Nedd - no sign of Alexander and wife Margaret but may be some sons.
